- The application of fiberglass onto an existing structure is only as good as the structure itself, no matter how well you may apply the fiberglass it is imperative that the structure is sound before proceeding.
- The preparation of the surface is the most important part of the project. If your preparation is inadequate the lifespan of your renovation is short lived.
- The application of the fiberglass has to be done by first wetting the pool surface with the resin and then applying the fiberglass, once that has been done more resin is applied from the front. The first application of Resin secures the bond of the fiberglass to the pool surface which is very important that both sides of the fiberglass are wet out properly.
- Once the fiberglass is applied and correctly rolled out to remove all air behind the laminate, then the fiberglass is prepared for the final coating. The final coating is done using a poolcoat which either comes in White or Pool blue. The mosaic band is a tissue which is applied over the poolcoat to finish off the pool.
The resins Fibre Products International use are ISO resins and the poolcoats are ISO NPG. The clear resin used over the mosaic is an ISO NPG which has UV stabilizers to help against fading.
